The Outer Banks is a 200-mile long string of barrier islands along theĀ coast of North Carolina.
The Outer Banks has a strong sense of history thanks to aviators (Orville and Wilbur Wright), pirates (Blackbeard) and vanishing settlers (The Lost Colony). Modern day adventures to the Outer Banks will enjoy watersports and ATV driving.
The southern islands are home to old lighthouses, sand dunes and secluded beaches, while the northern islands provide a more typical tourist oriented beach experience.
