Hello, I’m Jamie Jarvis and I’m a beach lover! When I was 5 years old my family moved from Akron, Ohio to Clearwater, Florida. Within months I transformed from a pale, sickly child to a glowing, happy, energetic kid. My family spent most weekends exploring the nearby gulf waters in our small boat and on many hot summer evenings my we’d load our car with lawn chairs, beach toys and a picnic dinner and head to the nearest beach.
As a teenager, my friends and I would ride the bus to the beach and enjoy a day of walking, talking, swimming and people watching. We’d dash across the hot pavement to the nearby 7 Eleven to buy a brain-freezing Slurpee or share an order of fries as a we waited out the afternoon thunderstorms at the snack pavilion.
After college I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and was in for a bit of a shock the first time I visited a Northern California Beach. The shore was rocky, the wind was fierce, the water was bone chilling and there was not a seashell in site. These certainly were not the beaches of my youth, but I eventually learned to appreciate their beauty.
I currently live in San Diego, California where the beaches are nice balance between the Florida gulf coast beaches of my childhood and Northern California beaches of my adulthood.
Beachy Dreams is my way of vicariously enjoying the world’s beaches and sharing my love for beaches with others.
